The AI Act EU standards – what it means for compliance

Understanding the AI Act is one thing. Knowing how to navigate its wider compliance landscape with confidence is another.

This 3-hour in-person training is a short, practical module designed for organisations that want to understand what EU AI Act harmonized standards mean in practice and how they connect to legal obligations, operational measures, and available support resources. Rather than approaching compliance as a purely legal exercise, this training helps participants understand how the pieces fit together: the AI Act itself, the role of standards, the distinction between obligations and guidance, and the growing set of implementation resources published by the European Commission and the AI Office.

The training draws on Helen Tueni’s experience as a representative in CEN-CENELEC JTC 21 on AI standardisation and translates standards-related discussions into concrete practitioner takeaways.

What participants will gain

By the end of the session, participants will be able to explain the purpose of harmonized standards under the EU AI Act, identify key compliance implications for public-sector AI initiatives, translate standards-based compliance concepts into practical next steps, explore the main official resources available through the AI Office and the European Commission, and navigate the legislative landscape with more confidence.

Best suited for

This session is well suited to public-sector professionals, compliance and legal teams, innovation leads, AI project owners, policy professionals, and decision-makers who want a compact but practical introduction to the AI Act compliance landscape.
